Overview

What is the AMATS Anchorage Pedestrian Plan Implementation Project all about?

The Anchorage Metropolitan Area Transportation Solutions (AMATS), in coordination with the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) and the Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is planning to design and construct recommended projects from the 2007 Anchorage Pedestrian Plan.

The proposed projects will connect existing pedestrian facilities or fill in gaps in order to complete more continuous pedestrian corridors.

CURRENT PROJECT STATUS:

Patterson Street – Debarr Road to Chester Court (see “Project Maps” for location)

Construction was recently completed in the summer of 2017.

Boniface Parkway – Debarr Road to Carrs-Safeway (see “Project Maps” for location)

Construction was recently completed in the summer of 2017.

Petersburg Street Pathway – E. 57th Avenue to E. 56th Avenue (see “Project Maps” for location)

A Design Study Report was completed in March 2017. The report evaluated various design alternatives and ultimately selected the no-build alternative as the preferred action. This concludes all study and design of this project for the time being.
